The Fine Art Room March Social – Lucian Freud: Drawing into Painting + lunch

Discover the creative processes of acclaimed artist Lucian Freud (1922-2011) and enjoy drawings, paint studies and prints that reveal the ideas and techniques that shaped some of his masterpieces.
From linear works made in the 1940s through to his 1980s etchings and final pieces, the show will also feature writings from Freud’s archives alongside previously-unseen work.
We will visit the exhibition for approximately two hours, giving you ample time to enjoy the show and perhaps sketch in the space or in the National Portrait Gallery afterwards. After our visit, there is the option to join us for lunch at the Cafe in the Crypt (approx. 5 minute walk away) to discuss the exhibition with your fellow artists.

Event details
In order to enjoy the exhibition when it’s not too crowded, we will meet outside the National Portrait Gallery at 10.15am with view to entering the exhibition at the first time-slot of 10.30am.
The Social is free. However, you will need to pay for:
- Your exhibition ticket
- Your travel to and from the National Portrait Gallery (nearest Tube stations: Charing Cross or Leicester Square)
- Your meal and drinks at the cafe.

– Please do not book your ticket until you receive an email inviting you to do so.
– Please let us know if you intend to come to the exhibition and lunch or just the lunch
– If you want to join us later in the morning, we can see you in the exhibition or afterwards at lunch – but please let us know you’re coming especially if you want to join us for lunch
– You can also join us for just the gallery visit part of the event if you don’t want to come for lunch afterwards
