Enjoy an art-filled trip to the brilliant city of Oxford and take inspiration from wonderful architecture, artworks, natural scenery and more. Our Art Day Out includes a walk around Oxford’s city centre plus a drawing / research trip to the amazing Ashmolean Museum which features artefacts from around the world, as well as artworks by Titian, Tintoretto, Bronzino, Van Dyck, Manet, Sickert and much more.
Sketch on-site and complete additional research whilst in Oxford then reconvene with the group in our studio space in Ealing or Hemel Hempstead (see below for venue info) where you can create artworks inspired by your sketches and ideas.
Please note
- Course attendees must book their place on the course in advance. Please do not turn up unannounced on the day.
- Course attendees need to make their own way to and from Oxford- information about where we’ll meet will be provided at the time of enrolment.
- Please do not purchase travel tickets until you’re notified the course will definitely be going ahead (subject to a minumum number of enrolments).
- Our Art Day Out course will involve walking and being outdoors – only attend if you’re able to walk / stand for a long duration and prepared to be outdoors / sketch outdoors (weather dependent).
- Course attendees can attend either the Ealing studio session or the Hemel Hempstead studio session – please state your preference when booking.
- The course may be postponed or cancelled if bad weather is forecast – full refunds will be issued.
Studio session venues:
The Fine Art Room – Ealing or The Fine Art Room – Hemel Hempstead
The follow-up Ealing studio session takes place at Northfields Community Centre. Northfields Community Centre is located at 71A Northcroft Rd, London, W13 9SS.
The centre is approximately 5 minutes walk from Northfields Tube station (Piccadilly Line). Local bus routes: E2 or E3. There are a few parking spaces available at the centre but these cannot be reserved / guaranteed. Parking restrictions are in place close to the Centre but free parking is available in streets a short distance away. See map

The follow-up Hemel Hempstead studio session takes place at Bennetts End Community Centre in Hemel Hempstead. Bennetts End Community Centre is located at Gatecroft, Hemel Hempstead HP3 9LZ.
There are plenty of free parking spaces available at Bennetts Gate car park on a first-come, first-served basis as well as nearby on-street parking. Bennetts End is also served by a number of local bus routes. See map
Course level: Intermediate / advanced; drawing and painting experience useful- if you’re a newcomer to art, we recommend you do our Learn to draw course first.
Course materials: You will need a sketchbook, drawing materials and a charged phone / camera to take photos whilst on the research trip. Paper will be provided for your studio sessions. A course materials list will be provided upon booking.
