Art Project: the State Hermitage Museum

This week’s brief saw us set off for our monthly virtual research trip where we headed east to the State Hermitage Museum, in St Petersburg, Russia, to explore the building and the collection via our laptops and Google Maps technology.

The first-class collection includes work by Durer, Rembrandt, Rubens, Velasquez, Van Gogh and Picasso, as well as artefacts including Faberge eggs, Roman and Greek sculpture, furniture, armour and tapestries, set in very grand, ornate surroundings
