Join us for a morning visit to The Making of Rodin exhibition at Tate Modern followed by lunch at a local restaurant

French sculptor Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) is renowned for a number of key pieces including The Thinker, The Kiss and The Burghers of Calais and proved both highly influential and controversial in his lifetime.

Auguste Rodin- Main droite de Pierre et Jacques de Wissant (1885–86) Musée Rodin

This new exhibition at Tate Modern features over 200 works from the Musee Rodin and takes a behind the scenes look at Rodin’s processes and how working with plaster provided him with an opportunity to think about, reflect on and visualise his ideas, creating new, unique pieces or experimenting with combining existing pieces to create new work. The show also examines his complex relationship with his assistant and lover, the sculptress Camille Claudel and other collaborators.

The exhibition will provide us with a wonderful opportunity to draw on-site if you wish so consider bringing a sketchbook. You may also want to use the time at Tate Modern to explore the vast permanent collection.

After our visit to the exhibition, there is the option to join us for lunch at Italian restaurant Zizzi which is a short walk away from Tate Modern.
