Kick off your weekend with some quality drawing time in some of London’s most fascinating and inspirational locations.

From the natural to the industrial, iconic to offbeat, our capital city has been inspiring artists for centuries.

Come and see London with new eyes as we respond to a number of different locations every Friday evening.

From contemporary art spaces and museum collections to the great outdoors and cityscape vistas, take your sketchbook on an adventure, experiment with different styles and media and keep your drawing skills in check.

Venue: Various London locations

Your course takes place at various London locations. Each week we will meet at a Tube station before settling in our chosen location to discuss how other artists have responded to similar themes or locations and enjoy some quality drawing time.

After a tea break we will move to a nearby second site or stay put to continue exploring our location.  Whether you want to work figuratively or explore abstraction, or want advice on how to develop your work further, your tutor is on hand to help and offer plenty of one to one tuition. We end the evening with some time to look at and discuss our work.

Course level: intermediate – some drawing skills essential. If you’re a beginner, please look at our Learn to draw course.  Sessions may involve walking and standing for some time as well as sketching outdoors, so please only consider joining the course if you are physically able to do so.

Course materials:  You will need a sketchbook (A4 or A3) and drawing materials. We will provide you with a suggested materials list once you’ve booked your place.

Your course tutor: Mario Lautier Vella has been teaching art since 2011.

A qualified art tutor and professional artist, drawing is a major part of Mario’s own practice. His award-winning drawings have been shown in a number of exhibitions. Mario’s 2017 solo show Home Truths featured 100 new drawings made as part of the 100 Day Project. His work can be found in collections across the UK, USA, Australia, Canada and Malta. Find out more
