Join us for a morning visit to an exhibition of drawings, paintings and more as we discover how Hans Holbein’s portraiture played an important role in Henry VIII’s reign and beyond…

The latest exhibition at The Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace is dedicated to work by German-born artist Hans Holbein during his employment in London.

After receiving a commission from Henry VIII’s chancellor, Sir Thomas More, Holbein found himself in demand, with other dignitories including Henry VIII also requesting portraits. The exhibition includes sketches and working drawings as well as paintings and other works, all of which introduce us to the famous and infamous from a turbulent time in British history, all presented in the magnificent settings of the Queen’s Gallery.

We will visit the exhibition for approximately two hours, giving you ample time to enjoy the show and perhaps sketch in the space. After our visit to the gallery, there is the option to join us for lunch at Zizzi in Victoria (approx. 10-15 minute walk away) to discuss the exhibition with your fellow artists.
