Enjoy exploring the possibilities of acrylic paint, colour and colour mixing through a series of practical exercises and painting activities in your home studio.
This one-day online workshop will take you from the fundamentals of colour theory through to creating and using your own colour palettes. We’ll look at the colour wheel, primary, secondary and tertiary colours, warm and cool colours, complementary and analogous colour relationships, and how different colours behave when placed alongside one another.
Working with a combination of essential theory and practical exercises, you’ll mix your own colours, explore colour relationships, learn how to create a wide range of colours from a limited palette and practise matching colours from observation. We’ll also look at how colour can be used more expressively, moving beyond simply reproducing what we see.
Whether you want to strengthen your understanding of colour, become more confident mixing paint or simply spend a day immersed in colour and making, this workshop provides a focused and enjoyable opportunity to develop your painting practice from your own home studio.
Course level: the workshop is suitable for artists with some experience of drawing or painting. We will exploring colour using acrylic paint – a materials list will be provided before the workshop. If you are unsure of your suitability for the course, please get in touch.
