Discover the thrill, challenges and possibilities of abstract art on this comprehensive 10 week course that introduces you to a variety of exciting ways of working with abstraction through line, colour, form, composition and much more…

Combining essential theory with practical exercises, explore different ways of creating abstract art that works for you, taking inspiration from a number of modern and contemporary artists, as well as your own ideas and experiences.

Blending drawing, painting and mixed media techniques, we’ll look at different ways of working and considerations each week, with time in each session to create preliminary studies or complete pieces, as well as opportunities to develop your work further after each session.

Take part in group discussions, share your ideas and then show your work in a weekly gallery and see how your fellow artists are also progressing.

Course level: intermediate / advanced- some drawing and painting experience needed. If you’re a beginner, please look at our Learn to draw or Learn to paint courses.

The course will be taught online –  the course will be delivered via Zoom – there will be a brief introduction to how Zoom works included in the first session.  Please get in touch for more info.

Course materials:  Course attendees will need to provide their own materials. Please request a materials list when booking.

Course feedback:

“I have nothing but praise. Mario’s approach was stimulating both on the practical and theoretical side. I enjoyed it very much and it changed how I approach all forms of art. The Zoom sessions were informative and fun. I will definitely continue with his art classes.” Chris P.

“Mario’s courses are not merely instructional. He sets the artistic, emotional and historic context by reference to known and little known artworks and encourages group participation. I find the one to one tutorials of particular benefit as he always helps me to see things differently and never fails to inspire. Thank you.” Maurice P.
